If, when caring for orchids, you do not put your heart into understanding them, then throughout the care and management process across all four seasons, even the most impressive watering and fertilizing methods are useless! Caring for orchids cannot be done willfully; although many flower lovers are very fond of orchids, few truly master the techniques of growing potted orchids, and they never understand the ways of orchids. They have not figured out the growth habits of orchids. Today, the editor will share and discuss with everyone some small details of orchid care.
First, when caring for orchids, especially when potting them up, you must pay attention to pot selection for the orchids. Usually, when planting orchids, it is best to choose clay pots or purple clay pots, and soak the pots in water for about 3 days before use.
Second is the orchid growing medium. In the process of caring for orchids, the growing medium is a crucial part; when caring for orchids, we must understand their growth habits. Usually you should choose the natural soil in which orchids grow, that is, the natural humus soil where wild orchids grow.
Next is the potting process for orchids; the most practical method is to first lay a layer of window screen on the bottom of the orchid pot, then place a layer of medium-grained red brick on the window screen, which does an excellent job of draining water and allowing air through. Then imitate the growth process of wild orchids: dig up orchid humus soil from the mountains, add a little pine needle and crushed walnut shell to the soil, mix evenly, and then use it to fill the pot.
When caring for potted orchids, pay attention to these four-season rules. Newly potted orchids need to be watered well to settle the roots, kept in a shady place for a week, and then moved to a sunny spot. In spring, move them outdoors after the temperature is above ten degrees; in summer, provide appropriate shading at noon; in autumn, keep the potting soil moist; in winter, the potting soil should not be too wet. Likewise, orchids cannot be exposed to strong sun, nor should the temperature be too low. During the growing period, water appropriately; during the period of new leaf and bud emergence and the flowering period, water appropriately less; for watering, it is best to choose natural rainwater. During the dormant period, water less or not at all. It is worth noting that newly planted orchids must not be fertilized before they have developed roots.
Finally, to give orchids a moisturizing and heat-preserving effect, we usually cover the surface of the orchid pot with a layer of white crushed stone, and then cover it with a layer of moss.
