Since I started growing plants, I've found that the most expensive thing isn't buying plants (after all, we know how to take cuttings), it's the flower pots. The cheap pots just don't look good, and the ones I like all cost dozens of yuan! Many gardening friends have found a different way, using old things at home as flower pots, which really saves a lot of money

A fan turned into a flower pot, and the plants got through summer with 0 casualties

The gardening friend below, @Dongguan Resident - Fangzhu, took apart a broken electric fan at home and turned it into two succulent pots. People say succulents are prone to root rot and black rot in summer, but with this fan pot, it's ventilated and breathable, so you never have to worry again!

Steps:

1、Use a screwdriver to remove all the screws holding the fan together.

2、Take out the "innards" from the bottom part of the fan and clean it thoroughly.

3、Cut a piece of thick plastic, poke holes in it with a toothpick, place it on the fan, then add a layer of pistachio shells (plain, unsalted), then add soil, plant the succulents, and you can also cover the surface with a layer of shells.

4、Using the same method, plant succulents in the other side of the fan too~

Doesn't it look pretty good? On the market, a succulent pot with even a little bit of style costs thirty or forty yuan, which could buy you a dozen succulents. We'd be better off learning a few good ways to reuse old items, unique and money-saving!

Growing plants in coconut shells, killing two birds with one stone!

Summer is the season for drinking coconut water. After buying a coconut for a dozen yuan and drinking it, don't throw it away, it can be turned into a flower pot in just a few minutes!

Steps:

1、After drinking the juice, use a saw to cut off 1/4 of the coconut; you can also saw it in half at the middle to make two small flower pots.

2、Peel off the white coconut meat inside, and after peeling you can soak it in water for a day.

3、After soaking in water, the coconut shell becomes soft, making it easy to drill a small hole 1-2 cm in diameter at the bottom.

4、Done! Put a few stones or clay pebbles at the bottom of the coconut pot first, then add soil and plant flowers.

Flip a plastic chair over, and it's a planter wonder!

The plastic stool every household has, flipped upside down, becomes a flower pot. But you need to wrap a bit of tape around the hole in the middle of the chair, otherwise soil will leak out~

Drawers offer lots of space for growing plants

Old furniture retired from home, such as drawers, makes a perfect flower pot. There's plenty of space, and the wooden material is breathable and drains water, so save them quickly~

Because drawers are relatively shallow, they're suitable for plants with short roots, such as succulents, moss rose, and oxalis.

They're also good for growing vegetables at home. When I was little, my family used drawers to grow scallions and bok choy...

Shoes are even more breathable for growing plants

Crocs worn for a few years, stuffed with a bit of moss and soil, can also be used to grow flowers. Tie a string to the shoe strap and it can be used as a hanging basket.

Leather shoes that can't be worn anymore can also be used to grow plants. They're even more breathable than red clay pots. Just stuff in some soil and you can plant, with a unique shape. Give it a try~

Old winter boots can be used to grow climbing flowers. You can set the flower shape without making a trellis, and they'll never sprawl out messily again.

Growing plants in a toilet, how quirky

I've introduced growing plants in toilets before, but many were used by gardening friends abroad. I didn't expect toilet gardening to become popular in China too, with many gardening friends trying it out

After seeing these "flower pots"

Do you have any inspiration

If you find it interesting
