The horned honey melon is a type of melon; one end of the fruit is large and the other end is small, shaped like a sheep's horn, which is how it got its name. It is also currently a rather popular internet-famous fruit, with thin skin and thick flesh. It can be peeled and eaten raw directly; after cutting it open, remove the yellow seeds and eat the flesh directly. It is crisp, sweet and juicy, so it is also called "horned crisp."

The horned honey melon is not only refreshingly sweet and crisp to eat, but also very helpful for replenishing the human body's sugar. It contains protein, carbohydrates, carotene, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium and many other nutrients.

We can also grow it in flower pots on a balcony, and it will still bear fruit normally, reaching a height of more than 2 m. Some gardening friends grew it using only a 2-gallon small flower pot, and it bore quite a lot of fruit. That is really impressive. Of course, growing melons in a larger pot is even better.

Compared with other melons, the horned honey melon has a higher yield, and the individual melons are also relatively large, each weighing more than 1 jin. As a potted fruit, it is a good choice.

To grow horned honey melon in a pot, we can choose the seed-sowing method. Because it likes heat and fears cold, and tolerates drought but fears waterlogging, it is generally chosen for planting in early spring!

First, the paper towel method can be used to sprout the seeds. The method is to first soak the seeds in warm water overnight. The next day, take a tray, place two paper towels on it, use a spray bottle to moisten the paper towels so they fully absorb water, then spread the soaked seeds flat on the wet paper towels, wrap the entire tray with a plastic bag, and place it in a dark environment at about 25°C. Generally, the seeds will sprout within 48 hours, and then they can be sown normally.

After sowing, seedlings generally emerge in about 7 days, and after that normal care is enough. However, paying attention to applying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer during the growing period can lead to an even higher yield.
