In the scorching summer, the moment you step out of an air-conditioned room, sweat drips down your face immediately. You wish you could shower 3 times a day and stay in the air-conditioned room all day long. For roses, a variety that fears heat, the high temperature of 30 degrees is quite hard to endure. Maybe give the roses some air conditioning and a shower, but who knows whether they can handle it?

The growth habits of roses

Roses like a warm environment with plenty of light and good air circulation. The suitable temperature for most varieties is 15-26 degrees, with nighttime temperatures around 10-15 degrees. If the temperature drops below 5 degrees, they will enter dormancy. If the temperature rises above 30 degrees, they will also enter a dormant or semi-dormant state, and the plants will grow poorly. Although they can still bloom, the flowers will be small and lack luster.

Can roses be given air conditioning in summer?

Summer temperatures are relatively high, so you must cool roses down, but air conditioning is not suitable for them, because roses prefer a well-ventilated, outdoor environment with plenty of light. If placed indoors with air conditioning, first of all, the sudden temperature difference will make the roses uncomfortable; secondly, the lack of light means the roses simply cannot grow, and it will also trigger pests and diseases. Without ventilation, plus improper watering, the roses will quickly head down the path to doom.

Can roses be given a shower in summer?

Yes, but you need to pay attention to the method. You can spray water on the leaves, once in the morning and once in the evening, but do not spray at noon, because under high temperature conditions, watering the leaves will make them uncomfortable and cause poor respiration. It is just like a person who has been in the blazing noon sun and then suddenly takes a cold shower - they easily get cramps, causing the body to become uncomfortable.

Also, watering roses should be done appropriately. Do not think that because it is summer and water evaporates quickly, you should water heavily. Too much water cannot evaporate, and combined with high temperatures, it is more likely to cause problems at the rose root zone, resulting in yellow leaves, root rot and other issues.

Besides spraying water on the leaves, you can also spray water on the surrounding environment and the floor around the roses, creating a humid environment for them while lowering the ambient temperature. When necessary, you can also use a tap to water the outer walls of the rose pots to lower the temperature inside the pots.

To improve the resistance of roses, besides taking cooling measures, you also need to supplement enough nutrients. You can appropriately add a few drops of organic nutrient solution when watering, which will provide sufficient nutrients to the roses, promote their vigorous growth, make the plants strong with lush green leaves, break the summer dormancy state, and bloom as usual.

In summer, besides cooling down, you also need proper ventilation and appropriate pruning for roses. For example, you can cut off weak, thin and damaged branches, and also cut off inward-growing branches, so that roses can pass through the summer cool and comfortable.
