Taipei City MRT Bureau: All 17 trains of the Circular Line have been delivered

The MRT Circular Line, constructed under the leadership of the Taipei City MRT Engineering Bureau, has now reached an overall construction progress of 90%. Among the milestones, all 17 newly designed electric multiple unit trains, which will provide convenient passenger transport, have been delivered to the South Depot and are undergoing various testing operations, officially marking the completion of the Circular Line's entire fleet; at present, the Circular Line's power system has completed full-line power supply, and the operations control center has also been completed and can already monitor the trains' automatic driving in the initial stage. In the future, various tests and full-line system integration operations will continue, along with educational training for Taipei Metro personnel, in the hope of smoothly entering trial operation and achieving the goal of opening to traffic as soon as possible.

The MRT Circular Line (Phase 1) procured a total of 17 electric multiple unit trains. Among them, the prototype train and the second train were manufactured by the original Italian factory, while the remaining 15 trains were assembled by the domestic train manufacturer Taiwan Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. through industrial cooperation. Since the prototype train arrived in Taiwan from the original Italian factory in Europe on November 24, 105, it opened the prelude to local mass production and assembly of the trains. The last train was also completed in July and left the factory after passing factory testing. The assembly progress of the 15 trains, totaling 60 cars, was achieved on schedule and with quality as planned. Today, with all 17 trains delivered, it symbolizes that the MRT Circular Line has officially entered another important milestone.

The Taipei City MRT Bureau stated that since the Circular Line trains first departed from Xindian South Depot and entered the main line on December 5 of last year (106), a series of intensive tests has been carried out, including acceleration to the maximum operating speed of 80 km/h under maximum passenger load, and acceleration and deceleration performance tests on the route's maximum gradient of 5.1%. The test results were all qualified, verifying that the trains' performance is good. Dynamic testing of the signaling system has also progressed to unmanned high-speed automatic mode testing, and the results have also been quite smooth.
