A few days ago I shared with fellow flower growers how to water flowers with rice water and how to fertilize with soybeans. Today I will share how to make flower fertilizer. Growing flowers is about three parts fertilizer and seven parts water. The importance of fertilizer is self-evident; only with sufficient nutrients will potted flowers have sturdy roots and stems, glossy green leaves and abundant blooms.

Although there are special flower nutrient fertilizers on the market, we cannot judge how good their fertilizer effect really is, so we might as well make our own. There are many ways to make organic fertilizer. Next, we will share an "old-fashioned method" that is simple and practical to do. It also has a very good fertilizer effect and can keep any flower you grow alive.

This "old-fashioned method" is to compost fertilizer yourself using leaf mold and sheep manure.

Leaf mold contains a large amount of residual elements and is very good for fermentation. When fermentation is complete, it becomes organic humus, an excellent material for growing flowers. Sheep manure, on the other hand, is the most valuable organic fertilizer. In the wild, there is plenty of sheep manure; when you have time, just go pick some up and bring it home. The fertilizer made by mixing these two things can be said to have a very strong fertilizer effect.

There are also several points to note in the production process: for example, first sun-dry the sheep manure for a day, then crush it and mix it together with the leaf mold. After that, dig a pit in the yard or another open space and fill these two things in. Then water once. Then cover with ordinary garden soil. After a week, it can basically be shoveled out with a spade and used. After a long period of piling and fermentation, these two substances have completely merged together, with various nutrients mixed in.

Whether you are growing Chinese roses (rose) or clivia, this fertilizer can be used directly as a base fertilizer. Besides being used as a base fertilizer, it can also be used as a top dressing, except that when used as a top dressing, it is recommended to add some barnyard manure or fermented soybean fertilizer water to it.

This method of making fertilizer can be said to be very primitive. In the past, rural areas basically used the piling method to ferment fertilizer for crops. Flowers, grass and trees also love this kind of solid, genuine organic fertilizer the most.

Potted flowers do not need a lot of fertilizer, and most should follow the principle of "light fertilizer applied frequently." This self-made organic sheep manure fertilizer has a relatively strong fertilizer effect, so use a little less each time. For example, when preparing soil, mix it with ordinary garden soil in a certain ratio. Do not let the fertilizer effect be too strong and burn the roots.

Finally, once more, some points to note about fertilizing flowers:

1. Two days before fertilizing, remember to stop watering first, and do not water immediately after fertilizing. The best time to fertilize is in the morning or evening; do not fertilize flowers at high noon.

2. Summer is actually not a good time to fertilize. Most flowers are in a dormant period, and combined with the too-high temperature, it is not conducive to the flowers' absorption of nutrients. Fertilizer water can be used instead.

That is all for this share of some knowledge about growing flowers. Thank you for reading. If you have any questions during the process of growing flowers, you can mention them in the comments below, and I will answer them one by one. In addition, if you have some good experience with growing flowers, you might as well share it so that more fellow flower growers can see it.
