Dry tips and yellow leaves on spider plants are a very common phenomenon. Spider plants are extremely easy to care for - just give them some water and they will fill the pot on their own. But during care, why do these dry tips and yellow leaves often appear?

1. Lack of water or shallow watering

Spider plants have relatively thick roots with some water-storage capacity. However, if they are kept short of water for a long time, or if watering only wets the surface, their roots often cannot absorb water. The main symptom shows on the leaf tips - the tips start turning yellow, then gradually spread inward

Spider plants also like relatively moist soil. In summer, keep the soil slightly moist. When the surface of the potting soil dries, water it thoroughly and generously to ensure vigorous growth of the spider plant

2. When short of water, giving it too much light

Spider plants are not afraid of light. This spider plant of mine did not grow well some time ago, so after giving it a buzz cut, I put it outside in full sun, even in summer I left it out in full sun. But by watering it regularly, the spider plant still grows this vigorously, and there are no dry tips or yellow leaves either. Its leaves are also relatively broad, large and compact

And such a small plant has already sent out runners. Its runners are also very compact and beautiful. So this spider plant, when watered sufficiently, is not afraid of sun

3. The soil must be loose and breathable

If the potting soil is compacted and not breathable, its roots cannot spread out inside, cannot absorb enough nutrients, and cannot supply the leaves' growth. So malnutrition appears - small leaves, slow growth, and dry tips and yellow leaves. Therefore, the soil for growing spider plants must be loose and breathable

If the spider plant's leaves have dried out severely, we can just give it a buzz cut, cutting off all the leaves, and let it send out new shoots again. This spider plant of mine did not grow well last time, so it was given a buzz cut. After the buzz cut, I put it outside in full sun. After more than a month,

it grew many dense new leaves again, and the plant shape is also very beautiful. The prerequisite is that watering must be sufficient and the soil must be loose and breathable
