Many flower lovers find azaleas rather difficult to grow, especially in the north, because they are flowers of the south and like relatively high air humidity, so azaleas find it even harder to get through summer. In the north, how should you master the azalea's summer care?

Azaleas like a warm, humid environment. If the air indoors is usually too dry, problems such as dry leaves, dry tips and leaf drop easily appear

I got this pot of azalea from a friend's home a while ago. I made a video for everyone at the time. Back then the leaves had already shown widespread drying, and it was gradually spreading inward, until almost all the leaves were about to fall off and it was just about to be thrown away, so I brought it home to grow

This was caused by the air being too dry, because azaleas like a humid environment, so I put it in this humid corner. It is damp here all year round, so I placed the azalea on a brick and propped it up. This spot gets one or two hours of light every day, and now after more than half a month, this azalea has recovered. Look at how vigorously this azalea is growing, isn't it?

It has grown a lot of new leaves, but a new problem has appeared: this azalea has developed yellowing new leaves. This is a typical iron-deficiency yellowing, so I gave it ferrous sulfate, and its leaves have already started to gradually change back

When we grow azaleas in an apartment, we can mist water around them, or put them in a saucer with a stone or brick under the pot to prop the pot up, put some clean water in the saucer, and be careful that the bottom of the pot must not touch the water surface, using the transpiration of the water to increase the air humidity around the azalea. Azaleas grow more easily this way

Another thing is that ventilation must be good. Poor ventilation causes many problems for azaleas, such as dry leaves and leaf spot disease, because when ventilation is poor and the air humidity is relatively high, it easily leads to bacterial infection, root rot, leaf spot disease, or dry tips and leaf drop

Azaleas like a relatively humid environment, and their soil also needs to be kept slightly moist. When the surface of the potting soil is dry, water it thoroughly right away

Azaleas are best grown in pots with good breathability, because their root system is made of relatively fine fibrous roots with no main root. If the potting soil has poor breathability, their root system very easily suffers root rot

If an azalea has good ventilation, is kept in a relatively humid environment, and gets one or two hours of light every day, then azaleas can also get through summer very easily in the north
