There are many reasons a Christmas cactus won't bloom: if it's caused by too much light, it needs to receive light for only a short time, and on scorching days shade measures must be taken. If it's caused by temperatures that are too low, give it a growing environment of 15-25°C, and when temperatures drop too low, take good warmth measures. If it's caused by too great a temperature difference, adjust the temperature well, and if the nighttime temperature is low, put it indoors.

1. Too much light

Cause: The Christmas cactus is a short-day plant. If it normally receives light for too long, or the light is too intense, it will struggle to form buds, and the phenomenon of not blooming will appear.

Solution: Since it is a short-day plant, give it a short period of light. During the day you can place it in a spot with light, and at night do not let it be exposed to lamplight. In addition, on scorching summer days, you need to take good shade measures for it.

2. Temperature too low

Cause: If the temperature of the growing environment is too low, it will struggle to bloom, and the buds may be frostbitten.

Solution: Give it a growing environment of 15-25°C, and do not let the lowest temperature fall below 15°C. When the temperature is too low, it is best to keep it indoors and take good warmth measures. Note that you must not place the plant too close to a heater.

3. Temperature difference too great

Cause: If the temperature difference between morning and evening is too great, it will damage the buds or cause bud drop. Especially around November, the temperature changes very quickly.

Solution: When the temperature difference is relatively large, adjust the temperature well. During the day you can place it outdoors to receive light, and at night try to keep it in a warm spot indoors.

4. Too much watering

Cause: The Christmas cactus needs a moist growing environment to grow. If you normally water too much, it will fail to bloom, and in serious cases root rot will occur.

Solution: Just keep the potting soil slightly moist; there is no need to water too much. If the soil is too dry, do not water it all at once; gradually increase the amount of water.
