To propagate asparagus fern, sowing is not the only way - cuttings work too. One stem grows one plant, so the pruned branches and leaves shouldn't be wasted.

Asparagus fern stays green all year round, with emerald leaves in clear layers and an elegant, refined look. It is highly ornamental and has been a very typical foliage plant in recent years. Placed indoors, it creates a wonderful backdrop and is much loved by people.

Gardeners who have grown asparagus fern know that it tolerates pruning very well, and only frequent pruning keeps its shape attractive and helps it grow. But few gardeners know that the branches and leaves pruned from asparagus fern can actually be used for cuttings, with a survival rate above 90%. It's a great pity to just throw away the pruned branches.

Specific method

Choose healthy asparagus fern branches and leaves, cut a slit in the stem, apply moss, and place it in a well-ventilated spot. After about ten days, a nodule-like knot will form. Cut it off, put it in a cloth bag, fill the bag with soil, poke a few small holes in the bag for airflow, then place it in a flower pot and fill with soil. It will root quickly.

Treat the pruned branches as described above, and you can propagate several pots at once. If you don't have room at home, you can sell them, and they also make excellent gifts for friends and relatives.
