2018 Taiwan Domestic Specialty Coffee Evaluation Grandly Debuts at Wutailuzi Tribe
The "2018 Taiwan Domestic Specialty Coffee Bean Evaluation" competition, hosted for the first time by the Pingtung County Government, will be held grandly from August 1 to August 4 at the Pingtung Coffee Base - Wutailuzi Tribe. This year, a total of 166 domestic specialty coffee beans from coffee-growing regions across the country will participate in the evaluation, with 16 teams from Pingtung County also competing. A professional panel of judges will select the coffee champion of the year, allowing people across the nation to once again witness the improvement in Taiwan's coffee quality and its development potential.
The Pingtung County Government held a press conference for the event yesterday (the 30th), inviting Liu Pang-yu, the 2014 WEC World Coffee Cup Tasting Champion, to demonstrate on site how to brew washed coffee beans. The coffee brewed with his superb technique drew endless praise from the distinguished guests who tasted it. County Magistrate Pan Meng-an invited the public to visit Wutailuzi Tribe during the four-day evaluation competition to witness the vigorous development of Taiwan's coffee industry.
During the four days of the event, in addition to holding the professional evaluation competition, 2014 World Coffee Roasting Champion Lai Yu-chuan was also invited to professionally roast the coffee beans entered in this year's competition. Well-known professional coffee craftsmen such as Coffee Prince Fang Cheng-lun also shared professional coffee lectures, and there was also a series of activities including an agricultural specialty products market. When the results are announced at the closing on August 4, renowned singer Dai Ai-ling of Bagumu Coffee in Chunri Township, Pingtung, will be invited to liven up the atmosphere. In addition to highlighting Pingtung's local industry characteristics and professional coffee image, it is hoped that this will showcase the value of Taiwan's domestic specialty coffee and the consumer culture of the coffee market.
In conjunction with this coffee evaluation held in Wutailuzi and the award ceremony held at the Nangang Exhibition Hall, the Pingtung County Government introduced a concept design based on train tickets from Pingtung Station to Nangang Station. This also serves as advance publicity for the Taiwan International Coffee Show - Taiwan Theme Pavilion, to be held at the Nangang Exhibition Hall from November 16 to November 19. Through professional and innovative event design and exhibition venue design, it will attract public interest and serve as a major platform for international coffee exchange.
