Grow succulents well by first growing the roots: strong roots, lush leaves, bursting out of the pot

More and more people are fond of succulents, but growing them well still takes some careful thought. The root system is the foundation of a plant's survival. If the roots are not grown well, most plants will not grow well, so root care is also very important for succulents. So how should succulent roots be cared for?
1. Watering
Watering succulents plays a very important role in their root growth. When watering is done properly, the roots get good aeration, root necrosis is less likely to occur, and the succulent's root system can become strong. When watering is excessive, succulents are prone to becoming leggy. When the roots are strong and water is appropriately controlled, the succulent will grow toward being plump and thick.
2. Flower pots
Flower pots are not better the bigger they are. The bigger the pot, the more prone to root rot it becomes. The key to choosing a flower pot lies in balancing water retention and aeration. The pot size should match the plant. A relatively safe approach is to choose a pot slightly larger than the plant, and also with good aeration.
3. Repotting
If succulents are not repotted for a long time, the potting soil tends to become compacted, and some roots may even rot or become infected with pathogens. When these situations occur, the growth of the succulent will be greatly hindered, so we repot succulents every year or every other year in spring and autumn.
4. A ventilated and breathable environment
Generally speaking, a hot and stuffy environment is extremely unfavorable for the growth of succulents. Succulents are best cared for in places with good light and ventilation, such as balconies and windowsills. It is best to line the bottom of the pot with a layer of paper towels, and not to put in too much drainage material, otherwise the lower part of the pot will remain dry for a long time, which is precisely unfavorable for succulent root growth.
