Ficus grows quickly, lives long, and stays evergreen all year round. With proper care, it can become a unique artistic shape. Below, we introduce the care tips for Ficus!

Care tips for Ficus bonsai:

(1). Choosing soil is very important; it must have good air permeability and drainage. You can use garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand plus an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to mix into a potting soil. It is best to buy a dedicated nutrient soil, which will work better, ensuring the plant has a very good growing environment. It needs repotting once every 2 years, carried out in spring and autumn, to maintain a good potting soil environment.

(2). Ficus likes a warm, humid environment with plenty of light. So the plant needs to receive sufficient light to ensure healthy growth; in summer, shade treatment is needed. In winter, place it indoors in a spot where it can receive light for care.

(3). Ficus has a low demand for fertilizer, so fertilizing mainly depends on concentration and frequency. During the growing season, apply 1 diluted liquid fertilizer each month, and you can also use foliar fertilizer sprayed on the leaves to supplement nutrients, which will let the plant grow lush branches and leaves. In summer and winter, stop fertilizing, otherwise it is easy to harm the plant.

(4). Ficus has a high water demand, and the soil must stay moist, so it needs frequent watering. Water when the potting soil is dry, but do not water too much and cause waterlogging. As long as watering does not cause waterlogging, it is fine; the soil should also be watered thoroughly, and do not stop watering until water flows out from the drainage holes. You need to frequently spray water on the Ficus leaves to keep them moist. In winter, reduce watering, which can help the plant overwinter safely.

(5). Pruning Ficus is very important; whether the shape looks good depends entirely on pruning skill. Generally, prune appropriately in spring to increase the inner ventilation of the plant and also prevent pests and diseases. Usually, also pay attention to shaping and pruning to maintain a beautiful ornamental value.
