Jixiangguan, Huangbo, Yinyue, Dishitian, Qunbiyu, Xiying, Huayueye, Zihuangxing, Zichi Lianhua, Wangyu Zhulian, Bihuan Guang, Chunyingzhuan, Ningti Yu, Xingyinv, Tongye Huayue, Chunmeng...

I believe many succulent lovers were drawn into this hobby by the beautiful names of succulents! Why are their names all so lovely? Would you like to know how succulents get their names?

Let me give a few examples

'Zichi Lianhua'is written in Japanese as"Komochi Renge" (Child-bearing Lotus);"Komochi" means "having children," and Renge is the lotus throne that the Buddha sits on; because Komochi Renge always has small plants around the large central plant, just like its children, isn't thatvery vivid?!

When it first arrived in China, it also had a little-known Chinese name,'Tiannv Sanhua' (Heavenly Maiden Scattering Flowers),which is Chinese enough, isn't it!

Names like'Xiangfu Lian'、'Shuangzhi Zhao'、'Jingye'basically just directly copied their Japanese names.

Let me give a few more examples

'Black Prince'has the Latin scientific name "Echeveria 'Black Prince'"; with a name so straightforward and easy to translate, no wonder basically every place in the world calls it "Black Prince" in its own way.

The most orthodox method of naming succulents in our country at present is to name them according to the meaning of the Latin scientific name itself (morphology, personal names, place names).

There are a great many varieties of succulents, new varieties are constantly being introduced, and there has never been a unified standard for naming; the names of succulents are a deep subject! But don't worry about those details. Once you have bred a new variety, you are free to name it whatever you like!
