Geranium flowers are especially beautiful, with various forms and a great many types. Their leaves give off a distinctive scent, they are not prone to pests and diseases, they are very easy to grow, and their flowering period is extremely long, extremely long - they can bloom continuously for several months. In winter, if the indoor temperature is suitable, they can also produce beautiful flowers.

Generally, when a potted geranium at home has been grown for two or three years, the branches become woody, and the leaves and flowers gradually decrease, no longer growing vigorously. At this time there is a little trick: prune the branches in time, and use the cut-off pieces to propagate new young geranium plants. Propagated this way, you can also grow many geraniums in summer:

Tips and methods for cutting geraniums in summer

Although the weather is hot at this time and the temperature is very high, and many flowers, plants and greenery are not suitable for cutting during this period, geraniums are an exception. They can be cut in all four seasons.

When cutting in summer, the branches you prune must be sturdy ones that have not yet become woody and turned dark brown. Slightly tender branches are more suitable, then let the cut ends dry for four or five hours.

Prepare a transparent plastic cup or paper cup, or other flower pots, etc., and fill it with sand or vermiculite nutrient soil. As long as the medium is loose, breathable and does not hold water, it is fine.

After cutting, pay attention to three small details, and the success rate will be much higher, with a survival rate above 90%. After cutting, be sure to place it in a ventilated place, so the branches will not rot or turn black. Second, the potting soil must not be too wet or too dry; soil moisture is very important. If it is dry and has no water, the branches are prone to lacking water and find it hard to grow roots; if it is too wet, it is prone to holding water and rotting the branches. Third, you must provide shade and must not let it get sun.

If you do not want to propagate in potting soil, propagating directly in water is also very easy. Prepare a cup or a mineral water bottle, fill it with clean water, just cut off the branches, trim off some of the leaves, and insert them directly into the cup or bottle.

The branches in the water should not be too long; two cm is enough. Summer temperatures are high, so rooting is especially fast.

Then plant them into flower pots. They can also become young geranium plants.

In everyday care of geraniums, they have excellent drought tolerance, so if the potting soil is not dry, do not water; when you do water, water thoroughly in one go. In summer, provide slight shade; in other seasons, they can get more sun. In summer, place them in a cool, ventilated place and they will grow quite well.

In winter, pay attention to keeping them warm. Move them from outdoors or the terrace indoors, and place them in a wind-sheltered, warm, sunny spot. They will still bloom as usual. Geraniums are very easy to care for, because of the unique scent they give off, they are not as prone to pests as roses. With occasional fertilizing, they can bloom all over the pot.
