Lucky bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) is a common foliage plant kept at home. Grown in water and placed in the living room or bedroom, it is a great choice either way, as it beautifies the space and adds vitality and energy. As the saying goes, "to grow a plant, first grow its roots." If you want your lucky bamboo to avoid yellow leaves, the first step is to grow a strong root system.

When lucky bamboo has not rooted or has weak roots, it struggles to absorb nutrients from the nutrient solution, which easily leads to yellow leaves. Besides the rooting powder that flower lovers know well, there are also some natural rooting agents for getting lucky bamboo to root. They are very common in daily life, and their rooting effect is just as good.

This thing is the "aspirin" solution that has often been mentioned before.

After aspirin tablets are dissolved in water, the resulting liquid contains substances that effectively stimulate the root activity of flowering plants, helping them root faster. This substance is the rooting-active compound salicylic acid. The main ingredient in most rooting powders on the market is extracted salicylic acid. Aspirin tablets, meanwhile, are quite common in daily life. When growing lucky bamboo, a single small tablet can easily solve the problem of difficult rooting.

How to use aspirin to promote rooting in lucky bamboo:

Put one small tablet into an ordinary mineral water bottle, fill it with water, tighten the cap, shake it twice, then leave it in a cool place for 5 hours until the tablet is completely dissolved. The liquid made this way is a genuine rooting agent. Just drip 2 drops of the solution into the lucky bamboo's vase. Generally, dripping it once a month is enough to meet the roots' growth needs.

This is especially true for newly bought lucky bamboo, usually 10 yuan for a bunch. Whether bought from a flower market or online, it has no roots. At this point, caring for the lucky bamboo so it roots is crucial. If it still has not rooted within a week, the base of the lucky bamboo will slowly rot, and the leaves will gradually turn yellow and dry up. So at this time, when using the aspirin solution, you can add a bit more to the vase.

In addition, you can also "soak" the bottom of the lucky bamboo directly in the prepared aspirin solution for 20-30 minutes, which also gives a good rooting effect.

For lucky bamboo to root, nutrients are important, but if the details of daily care are neglected, rooting will also be hindered. Next, let's talk about the care involved in getting lucky bamboo to root.

Newly bought lucky bamboo needs its water changed every three days, and each time you change the water, add a few drops of the aspirin solution. Once signs of rooting appear, there is no need to change the water anymore; just top it up whenever the water runs low. To reduce the pressure on the lucky bamboo during the early rooting stage, it is recommended to cut off its excess leaves. Ideally, keep only three or four leaves per stalk of lucky bamboo. One more thing: do not put too many lucky bamboo stalks in each vase; 4 or 6 stalks are both fine.
