The weather is too hot now, so of course you need to pay more attention when caring for flowers. After all, even people find the heat unbearable, let alone potted flowers! Although every kind of flowering plant has its own growth habits, most of them are not very heat-tolerant. At this time, caring for flowers is also a skilled job.

Why do some flowers die before getting through summer, either from root rot or yellow leaves? Actually, it is still because you do not know enough about flower care techniques, or you are not careful enough. Carelessness makes it impossible to grow flowers well. Next, I will share the "3 things" that can cause flowers to rot at the roots and turn yellow, and I hope flower lovers can avoid them.

Thing 1: Applying concentrated fertilizer to flowers

Most potted flowers enter dormancy in summer, and even those that do not go dormant grow slowly. At this time, if too much or too concentrated fertilizer is applied, it will directly burn the root system, and then cause leaves to turn "fertilizer yellow." This situation is very common. Whether you are growing clivias or any other flowers, be sure to remember "apply thin fertilizer frequently"; this principle is always right. Besides summer, it should also be followed in other seasons.

Thing 2: Giving flowers a heavy watering

Do not think that because the summer weather is too hot and plant transpiration is strong, you need to give them a heavy watering. The "heavy watering" mentioned here has two meanings. First, watering too frequently; second, watering too much each time, turning it into flood irrigation. Neither of these situations is allowed. In summer, plants instinctively have a certain drought resistance, and their water demand only increases a little, so you should not water too much because of this. If you water too much, water accumulating in the potting soil will cause the roots to lack oxygen, and poor breathing will directly lead to root rot, which then causes yellow leaves.

Thing 3: Shading flowers for too long

Every kind of flower needs photosynthesis to keep its leaves glossy green. The summer sun is too strong, so potted flowers should not be placed in direct sunlight. Of course, they also should not be placed in too shady a spot; without light exposure, they cannot do well. The best way is to let the flowers receive some scattered light, so that the leaves will not be scorched and normal growth can still be ensured. Potted flowers are not that delicate; shading them for too long is not good for their growth.
