However, afterward,

some netizens exposed that

Ms. Deng runs several noodle shops in Wuming,

drives an Audi,

and has several properties under her name,

sparking public doubts...

Mother raises funds online to save daughter

The fundraising platform Shuidichou's related introduction of Ms. Deng shows:

Her daughter Xiao Huang is 20 years old this year and a sophomore at Sichuan University of Media and Communications. On June 30 this year, Xiao Huang suddenly ran a persistent high fever and was sent to a local hospital in Chengdu, where she was diagnosed with a viral infection of unknown cause. At the time, the hospital issued critical condition notices several times.

Her daughter Xiao Huang was then admitted to the ICU, with high daily costs, and the hospital estimated that the initial treatment costs would be at least 300,000 yuan. "Her father and I were so worried about the medical expenses that we could not sleep night after night, and we had no way to cover the medical bills."

After nearly 10,000 people donated, on July 11, Ms. Deng withdrew more than 250,000 yuan in donations.

Several days later, Ms. Deng posted an update, stating that her daughter had been discharged from the hospital on July 19 and was currently, on the doctor's advice, taking medication and recovering quietly at home in Wuming.

War of words sparks controversy

However, on July 22, some netizens exposed that Ms. Deng's family was not short of money: she runs 3 noodle shops in Wuming, the family has an Audi, and she has multiple properties under her name.

In response to netizens' revelations, Xiao Huang, who had just recovered from a serious illness, openly engaged in a war of words with netizens online, using vulgar and abusive language, and said:"How much did you give? I'll pay you back. I don't need your xx money."

Xiao Huang's remarks caused an uproar online. Many people felt:"What hurts is not the money, but the kindness that was misplaced."

On July 23, Xiao Huang may have realized she was wrong and spoke out again on WeChat Moments, saying she deeply regretted it and hoped everyone would give her a chance to turn over a new leaf.

On July 24, Ms. Deng said on the fundraising platform Shuidichou that she would sell her assets and return the donations to all kind-hearted people within 72 hours.

The person involved is the owner of a noodle shop

Was the truth really as the netizens' revelations claimed?

On July 24, a reporter learned through visits that Deng Ji Gold Medal Old Friend, located on Jianshe Street in Wuming, is owned by Ms. Deng. The reporter managed to contact Ms. Deng, but after the reporter identified themselves, Ms. Deng immediately hung up the phone and could no longer be reached.

According to nearby shopkeepers and some workers who had previously worked at Gold Medal Old Friend:

Deng Ji Gold Medal Old Friend noodle shop has a good reputation, has been doing business for many years, and with the owner's conduct in business and life also being decent, business has always been good,"She should have some savings. I can't understand why she would do this."

Father says most online revelations are untrue

It is reported that Xiao Huang was born to Ms. Deng and her ex-husband Mr. Huang. The two divorced more than 5 years ago, and Mr. Huang currently also runs a Gold Medal Old Friend noodle shop.

Mr. Huang said that although Ms. Deng has a car and a house, they were both bought with loans, and the family's financial situation is not good. Most of what is said online is false:

She (Ms. Deng) does have an Audi. When doing business, face matters. She has only one commercial apartment, bought more than 10 years ago, and the loan is still not fully repaid. The rent for that storefront is more than 20,000 yuan a month, and she still owes the landlord rent.

According to Mr. Huang, he had once gone into business with others in his early years, but the business failed, and he still owes more than 50,000 yuan in debt. He now lives on the second floor of the noodle shop. "I am 52 years old this year, with no car and no house, and the rent is nearly 4,000 yuan a month."

Mr. Huang admitted frankly that when his daughter was ill and hospitalized, he and his ex-wife truly could not come up with the money. At that time, a fellow patient nearby happened to see this and suggested that they launch a fundraising campaign on Shuidichou.

As for his daughter's remarks online, Mr. Huang said he felt very surprised:

"I asked her mother, and she said an anonymous netizen attacked her with malicious words. The child may have been provoked and therefore lost her reason and said the wrong things."

"It was definitely wrong. As parents, we bear responsibility for not teaching her properly. At the same time, we also hope society can give her a chance to turn over a new leaf."

On the afternoon of July 24, a staff member of the Shuidichou platform replied:

After the incident, the platform immediately contacted the user to explain the situation, but the user did not respond. After communication,Patient apologizes on WeChat Moments and decides to refund。

Platform: on-site urging for refund

In the early hours of July 26, the official Weibo of the crowdfunding charity platform Shuidichou responded to the matter of "Nanning mother crowdfunding 250,000 to save her daughter but exposed as having several properties." On the afternoon of the 25th, Shuidichou sent staff members to the local area to conduct an on-site investigation and verification of the netizens' revelations and media reports, and urged the user to fulfill the refund promise. That day, the patient's father communicated with the platform and promised to go to the bank on the 26th to process the refund. Once the platform receives the funds, it will return them to the kind donors through the original payment channel as soon as possible.
