Growing plants indoors serves a very wide range of purposes. Some families simply use them to decorate the home or enrich their leisure time, while some friends place a potted plant at home hoping to improve their luck and attract wealth. That's why many plants carry such symbolism, and the money tree (Pachira aquatica) is one of them.

If you grow a money tree at home, the more vigorously it grows, the better its symbolism of attracting wealth and improving luck. So if you love money trees, be sure to pick up these care tips.

The money tree has low light requirements. You can usually place it in a bright spot and occasionally move it into the sunlight for a while, and it will thrive with lush, evergreen leaves.

When caring for a money tree in summer, watering requires special attention. The money tree is somewhat drought-tolerant, and its root system is very fragile and afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, every time you water, make sure to water thoroughly, and also increase ventilation to speed up evaporation and prevent water from accumulating.

During the money tree's peak growing season, you can make your own liquid fertilizer to care for it. For example, fermented soybean water and fermented rice-rinsing water are both excellent nutrient solutions for money trees, keeping the leaves emerald green and the branches and foliage lush. When fermenting rice-rinsing water, you can add a rotting tomato to it for even better results.

The money tree prefers acidic soil. During care, the soil inevitably becomes alkaline, so you can use ferrous sulfate once a month, diluted 500 times, to adjust the soil's pH balance, making the soil acidic. It also increases the money tree's uptake of iron ions, helping it synthesize more chlorophyll and making the leaves even more emerald green and shiny.

Also, when caring for a money tree, it's recommended to repot it every one to two years, which can be done in early spring. When repotting the money tree, you can also take the opportunity to trim the roots, which is better for its growth and keeps its leaves continuously emerald green and shiny with lush branches and foliage.
