Bananas go black and spoil when left for a long time, and it is a pity to throw them away, but for people who grow flowers, they really are excellent fertilizer. Banana peels are rich in potassium fertilizer, which can promote healthy plant growth. Do the leafy potted plants at home always attract dust? Dusty leaves always look listless, and the banana peels left over after we eat bananas can perk the plants up. Wiping the leaves with a banana peel takes effect in about a week, making the leaves dark green and glossy. It is extremely suitable for foliage plants such as pothos, rubber plant, money tree and fiddle-leaf fig.

Cut the banana peel into long strips, then rinse them repeatedly with clean water to make sure there is no stain left on the surface of the peel. Then gently wipe the surface of the leaves with the banana peel. This not only removes the dust on the surface, but also makes use of the nutrients contained in the banana peel itself, leaving the leaf surface looking brand new and beautifully glossy.

Many flower fertilizers contain potassium, and choosing a fertilizer with a higher potassium content can help flowers grow. In our daily life there is a natural flower fertilizer ready at hand, and that is the banana peel. Banana peels are rich in potassium, and their effect on roses is even better than that of ordinary chemical fertilizers. Cut the banana peel into small pieces and place them on the soil at the base of the rose bush. After the banana peel rots, it will release potassium, unlike other fertilizers, which must be mixed with soil and undergo a chemical change before they take effect. Banana peels can not only make roses bloom longer and with brighter colors, but also make fragrant roses smell even stronger.

You can use banana peels to make liquid fertilizer for succulents. Prepare a common drink bottle, then add about two-fifths clean water, chop up the banana peels and throw them in, add a small amount of vinegar, let the air out of the bottle, do not fill it too full, and then seal it. When the temperature is high, the fertilizer ferments very quickly. In summer, it can be ready in two weeks.

The fermented succulent fertilizer needs to be diluted with water before use. Give the succulents some once a week. Remember not to pour it on the leaves of the succulents, and do not expose the fertilized succulents to strong sun. Sun the banana peels until dry. How dry should they be? They are dry enough when you can crush them directly with your fingers. Then grind the banana peels into powder, dig a hole in the soil at the edge of the flower pot and sprinkle it straight in. Give the succulents some once a month, or take the opportunity when repotting the succulents to mix it directly into the soil.

Can banana peels be placed at the bottom of a succulent pot? No. With their high sugar content and damp conditions, they mold very easily, and then this pot of succulents will catch a disease and die. For ceramic pots, water permeability is very poor, so pay attention to the amount of watering, and you can lay a layer of leca clay pebbles at the bottom of the pot. If it is a terracotta pot of the earthenware kind, it is very convenient, because terracotta pots have very good air permeability, so there is no need to worry about too much water.
