The jade plant (Crassula ovata) is a very common green plant. Its form is quaint and its leaf shape unusual, like green jade. In summer it blooms profusely, with green and white intermingled, very elegant and distinctive!

Although the jade plant is easy to grow and full of vitality, repotting is essential, and how to prepare the potting soil is very important. Today Hua'er will introduce to everyone how to prepare this kind of "five-layer soil" for growing jade plants, so they grow like crazy, with thick branches, plump leaves, and flowers covering every branch!

The growing soil is mainly based on leaf mold soil, mixed with sandy soil at a ratio of 2:1. First spread the first layer, a drainage layer, at the bottom of the flowerpot; this can be ceramic pellets, broken tiles, etc., to increase air permeability and drainage. Then spread the second layer of soil on top of it, mainly decomposed organic fertilizer, which can be decomposed soybean residue, animal manure, etc., with the thickness kept at 2-3cm. Then add a layer of growing soil, about 5cm thick, then thinly sprinkle a layer of a mixture of plant ash and bone meal, which can protect the root system, retain moisture, and also promote the jade plant to take root and sprout. Finally, continue adding soil until the jade plant is planted.

Preparing these five layers of soil, "drainage layer soil - decomposed organic fertilizer - growing soil - plant ash and bone meal mixture - growing soil", can make the jade plant grow more robust, with thicker, more jade-green, and glossier leaves.

Note two points:

1. When choosing a pot, besides choosing a purple clay pot or tile pot with good air permeability, you also need to consider depth. According to the size of the jade plant and how much it can grow within a year, choose a relatively deep flowerpot with a suitable width.

2. When planting, avoid direct contact between the root system and the plant ash and bone meal mixture, to avoid damaging the roots.

The care of the jade plant is introduced here. If fellow flower lovers have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comment section below. If you want to learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Huajianke!
