What to do about compacted soil? Two simple tricks to solve it easily

Although growing flowers is becoming more and more popular, it is also a technical skill. Only by mastering the techniques of growing flowers can you grow them better. When growing flowers, first grow the roots; only when the root system grows well will potted plants grow better. Soil is the foundation of plants, and only good soil can nurture better plant growth. But after a long time, potting soil easily becomes compacted, which is not good for the growth of flowers.
Why does soil easily become compacted?
The nutrients in the soil in a flower pot are limited. After the humus and other nutrients in it are absorbed by the flowers, the potting soil becomes poor, and poor soil easily becomes compacted. After the soil becomes compacted, the plant roots cannot breathe normally, which naturally easily leads to root rot, yellow leaves, and similar problems.
1. Organic fertilizer
After the soil becomes compacted and hard, first loosen the potting soil, then do not water it for a whole day. On the second day, evenly sprinkle decomposed bean cake powder or animal manure fertilizer on the surface of the potting soil, a thin layer, not too much, then spray a little water on top so that the dry fertilizer and the soil mix together. In this way, the soil will gradually become soft, and when watering it can also provide nutrients for the flowers and plants.
This is precisely because the dry fertilizer slowly ferments on the surface of the potting soil, turning the originally compacted soil soft and loose, and it can also provide certain nutrients to the soil, so there is no need to change the soil. However, this method cannot be used often; using it two or three times a year is enough.
2. Sand column method
There is another relatively simple method: poke holes in the flower pot, bury a few thicker straws in them, then add fine sand into the straws. After pulling out the straws, several sand columns will have formed in the potting soil. When watering, you can water onto the sand columns, so the sand can spread the water in all directions, and this can also loosen the soil.
Of course, after the soil becomes compacted, taking effective measures can improve the situation, but normally we can take more preventive measures:
1. Let tap water sit out
Fresh tap water contains a certain amount of chlorine and bleaching powder, which is also a major factor causing soil compaction. Before watering flowers, it is best to let it sit out first.
2. Use less chemical fertilizer
When growing flowers, it is best to use fermented organic fertilizer. During decomposition, organic fertilizer can play a certain role in loosening the soil.
