Summer is the dormant period for many plants, but it is also a good season for taking cuttings, mainly because the high temperature makes it especially easy to create a high-heat, high-humidity environment, which is very favorable for plants to root and sprout. Today Hua'er will introduce 3 kinds of flowers to everyone. When taking cuttings especially at this time, then soak them in "it," and they will root fast and sprout vigorously!

First of all, the "it" mentioned here is a natural rooting and sprouting agent - willow branch water. Willow branches contain salicylic acid, willow acid, and so on, which are plant growth hormones that can promote rapid rooting and sprouting in plants.

Specific method: collect a few current-year, robust and tender willow branches, remove the leaves, cut them into small segments, crush them and put them into a larger container, add an appropriate amount of water to soak, and after one day scoop out the debris and it is ready to use.

Next, let's introduce these 3 kinds of flowers:

1. Blue snowflake (Plumbago auriculata)

Blue snowflake is a relatively popular flower in recent years. It has very strong vitality, and its flowers bloom blue, easily bursting into a sea of blue flowers, very beautiful.

Cut current-year semi-lignified branches, control the length at 5-7cm, keep 2-3 leaves at the top, trim the base into a 45° slanted angle, place it in a shady place for about ten minutes, then soak it in willow branch water for half an hour.

The cutting substrate can use vermiculite or loess. Keep the substrate and the surrounding environment moist. In about 20 days it will root and sprout. When the root system is 3-5cm, it can be transplanted into a pot.

2. Hydrangea

Hydrangea is famous for its large flowers. It grows vigorously and also has strong reproductive ability. Choose branches that have already flowered, as they are rich in nutrients. Control the length at 8-12cm, keep 2-3 leaves. Because its leaves are relatively large, you can remove 2/3 of the large leaves to reduce water evaporation and nutrient consumption.

Hydrangea has a strong water-absorbing ability. Put the trimmed base of the branch directly into willow branch water for ten minutes. It does not have high soil requirements, but using vermiculite or sandy soil will make rooting relatively faster. After cutting, water thoroughly, then seal with plastic film, keeping it moist at all times. In about half a month it can grow roots.

3. Osmanthus

Osmanthus is very suitable for cuttings in summer. It is currently differentiating flower buds, and the branches are rich in nutrients. Choose current-year semi-lignified branches, with a length of only 5-8cm, and with one healthy leaf.

Put the trimmed branches into willow branch water to soak for half an hour. Use loess or sandy soil as the substrate, insert obliquely to 1/2-2/3, then seal with plastic film, water every day, and keep it moist. In about one month it will root and sprout, and transplanting in about two months will make maintenance better.

That is all for the introduction to the cuttings of these 3 kinds of flowers. If flower friends have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comment section below. If you want to learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Huajianke!
