Corn Large-Ridge Double-Row Plastic Film Mulching Cultivation Technology
Corn large-ridge double-row plastic film mulching (abbreviated as corn "large double mulch") is an advanced cultivation technology that can improve the utilization of light energy, water and fertilizer, increase accumulated temperature, and significantly increase yield. This technology is suitable for the main corn production areas of our province, especially the western arid regions and the eastern semi-mountainous areas. It is understood that this year our province plans to promote the corn "large double mulch" cultivation technology on 5 million mu in the main corn production areas, with a planned yield increase of 25%.
Relevant agricultural experts introduced the key technical points: select flat, deep, medium or above fertility plots with good drainage and irrigation conditions; land preparation requires leveling and fining, and attention should be paid to preserving soil moisture; due to suitable temperature and humidity under plastic film mulching cultivation, underground pests occur more severely, so seeds should be coated with seed coating agents before sowing; fertilization should combine organic and chemical fertilizers and achieve balanced nutrient fertilization. In particular, nitrogen and potassium fertilizer amounts should be sufficient to avoid late-stage fertilizer deficiency and premature aging; planting density can be increased by 5%-10% compared with ordinary planting methods depending on the variety; after sowing, chemical herbicides should be applied promptly for soil closure to eliminate weeds; when mulching, attention should be paid to preventing excessive soil coverage from affecting light penetration, insufficient soil coverage leading to moisture loss, and wind lifting the film.
According to measurements by agricultural experts, corn planted using the corn large double mulch technology is about 30 cm taller than corn planted using ordinary methods. Experts suggest that with the current improvement of mechanized cultivation methods for corn "large double mulch," farmers should apply this technology to the entire corn planting process.
