Lucky bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) is a very common foliage houseplant that can be grown in water or in soil, but when kept at home it is mostly grown in water - clean and pretty, suitable for the bedroom or the living room, elegant and generous, and it can also purify the air, and on top of that it has a good meaning, originally standing for wealth and good fortune. And if it is grown well, it turns emerald green all over, giving anyone who looks at it a sense of vitality. Although plant lovers all like it very much, it is not so easy to grow it well. The problem plant lovers run into most often is that a newly bought lucky bamboo is hard to root and prone to yellow leaves. If your lucky bamboo has the same problem, take a look at the little tips shared today.

With "it" in the water, the roots of the lucky bamboo "shoot" out everywhere, and the leaves are so green they could drip "oil"!

What exactly does "it" refer to here?

Actually it is not a single substance, but some things suitable for caring for lucky bamboo. For example, at the start, if you want a newly bought lucky bamboo to root early and root fast, there are things you need to add; after it has rooted, for it to keep growing continuously and for its leaves to be glossy green, there are also things you need to add. Below, Xiaohua will explain slowly, let's take a look together!

Add a bit of vitamin B12 and the roots will come rushing out unstoppably

For a lucky bamboo you bought that already has roots, first cut the roots off, then leave it in a ventilated place for three to five hours so the cut surface dries and heals, and in this way bacteria will not get into the roots and rot them.

At this point, to let the lucky bamboo root as much as possible, we can take one tablet of vitamin B12, grind it into powder, and put it into the water the lucky bamboo is grown in. Plant lovers are advised that one tablet is enough, do not be greedy for more!

This is mainly because vitamin B12 contains abundant salicylic acid, and salicylic acid has a very strong stimulating effect on regrowth - just a tiny bit is enough to drive the root system to grow rapidly. Using it to grow lucky bamboo is more suitable than anything else!

After using it, the lucky bamboo will quickly be full of roots.

After rooting, add a bit of this and the leaves will be glossy green without yellowing

After rooting, apply a small amount of compound fertilizer or nutrient solution in time, and the leaves will be glossy green and the stems thick and strong. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, the plant will grow thin and weak, and the leaf color easily turns yellow. But fertilizer must not be applied too much, to avoid "burning the roots" or causing leggy growth. In spring and autumn, applying compound fertilizer once a month is enough.

If plant lovers keep fish, they can regularly add some water from the fish tank. Even without fertilizing, the leaves will still be glossy green. If using nutrient solution, once a month is enough, or when adding water, just drip in a few drops of dissolved vitamin C1.

If you want the lucky bamboo to grow well, you also need to pay attention to the following points:

1. Light

For lucky bamboo grown in water, you cannot put it under direct sunlight, but if it gets no sunlight at all, the leaves will likewise wither and yellow and growth will be poor. So place it in a bright, ventilated environment as much as possible, so it gets full exposure to light.

Also, do not place lucky bamboo next to a TV or in a spot constantly hit by an air conditioner or electric fan, to avoid the leaf tips and leaf edges drying up. When the weather is dry, spray the leaf surface appropriately to keep the leaves spread out and the leaf color emerald green.

2. Water quality

Tap water contains disinfectant, which easily affects the growth of the rhizome part of lucky bamboo. You can leave tap water in the sun for a while, then use it to grow lucky bamboo. If possible, use groundwater as much as possible, or use purified water

Sharing a little method:

If after growing lucky bamboo for a while you find its leaves turning yellow, then you can wipe the leaves with the water used to boil eggs, and the leaves are guaranteed to turn a dripping-oil green in a few days!

Normally, do not rush to pour away the water used to boil eggs. You can pour it into a big bowl, wait for the water temperature to drop, then use the egg-boiling water to wipe the leaves. Wet a soft cloth with the egg-boiling water and use it to wipe the leaves; when wiping, be sure to wipe both the front and the back. This can wipe away the dust gathered on the leaf surface and also provide nutrients to the plant, letting it grow better.

That is all for today's sharing
