Symptoms and treatment methods of hemorrhagic disease in rice field eels
Hemorrhagic disease in rice field eels: The symptoms are blood spots on the body surface of the eel, with irregular shapes and varying sizes. The bleeding around the edge of the spots is more severe than in the central area, and sometimes it appears as diffuse hemorrhage. The bleeding is most severe on the abdomen of the entire body surface, followed by the two sides, with little on the back. When diseased eels were isolated for observation, they were found to die 1 to 2 days later. Shortly after death, the anus of the diseased eel was red, swollen, bleeding and everted, and there was bloody mucus in the oral cavity, which flowed out when gently squeezed by hand. Dissection of the diseased eel revealed that the abdominal cavity was filled with purplish-red blood and mucus, the liver was enlarged with blood spots and had become paler in color, the spleen was bleeding, the intestinal mucosa showed pinpoint hemorrhages, the kidney was swollen and bleeding, and there was no food in the intestinal tract but yellow mucus.
Control methods: (1) Remove diseased and dead eels and isolate them to prevent worsening of the condition and control the spread of the disease. (2) After thoroughly changing the water, splash furazolidone over the entire pond to make the pond water reach a concentration of 0.5 ppm; after 2 days, change the water again and splash sodium trichloroisocyanurate to make the pond water reach a concentration of 0.4 to 0.5 ppm. (3) Persist in changing the water every day and disinfect with an appropriate amount of quicklime to regulate water quality. After one week, the condition was brought under control and the eels fed normally.
