Breeding tips for rabbits: master the method and it becomes easier
Breeding tips for rabbits
Traditional breeding involves taking the doe in heat to the buck's cage, letting the buck mount once, listening for the buck's grunt, and as soon as the buck falls off the doe, immediately taking the doe out of the buck's cage, giving her a slap on the rump, and putting her straight back into her own cage.
This breeding method now yields a very low conception rate. What is the reason?
Based on my observations, every time a doe is bred and returned to her original cage, she has the habit of urinating right away; the urine washes away part of the semen, reducing the chance of conception. But if the doe is left in the buck's cage for 7 to 10 minutes, because the buck keeps mounting and harassing her, the doe is too frightened to urinate, which prevents the semen from flowing out. In addition, during these few minutes the buck can mate 2 to 3 times in succession, so there is no need to wait 6 hours for a repeat mating, saving time. As things stand now, the conception rate here is above 70%.
Just a humble opinion, for everyone's reference!!!!!
