What issues should be noted before and after introducing new breeds?
(Agricultural Wealth Network) What issues should be noted before and after introducing new breeds?
--------------------------------------
Before introducing new breeds, customers should do a good job of disinfecting and isolating the pig pens. If it is a newly built farm, after completion, carefully disinfect it once or twice with caustic soda or lime milk. If it is an old farm, it is best to leave the isolation pig house empty for more than three months, and it should be thoroughly cleaned and repeatedly disinfected. If conditions permit, the isolation pig house should be as far away from the original pig herd as possible.

After bringing the introduced breeds back, raise them in separate pens according to body weight. Do not feed too much feed on the same day; only provide sufficient drinking water. Assign a dedicated person to manage and feed them, and add some broad-spectrum antibacterial drugs to the feed, such as oxytetracycline base 1000g/ton, and feed continuously for 7-10 days. After one week, once the breeding pigs' appetite and spirit have completely returned to normal, arrangements can be made for vaccinations against swine fever, Japanese encephalitis, parvovirus, and pseudorabies. Parvovirus, Japanese encephalitis, and pseudorabies vaccines can be boostered once 2 weeks after the first injection. After the last vaccine injection, at least eighteen days must pass before breeding. The immunization for other vaccines should be handled as appropriate based on the local disease prevalence situation.
--------------------------------------
About 45 days after introduction, the feces of the original pig herd can be inoculated into the new breeding pig herd. After observing for a period with no abnormal reactions, they can be mixed together. Absolutely do not mix them immediately after introduction.
