Five key points of feeding and management for mini pigs
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Build the pigpen well

A pigpen should be built in a place with dry geothermal conditions, sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, and level. The pigpen can be either single-row or double-row. Each mini pig should occupy 0.8 sq m, and it is advisable to raise 8 to 10 pigs per pen. In summer, a shady awning should be set up over the pigpen, and in winter, plastic should be used to cover the shed to raise the room temperature. This is an important condition for raising mini pigs well.

Strengthen the management of suckling piglets

After mini pigs are born, the sow's teats should be fixed so that the piglets can take in good colostrum, and warmth should be strengthened to let them start eating early. Generally, after 4 days of birth, concentrated feed can be given as a supplement. After 1 month of age, vaccinations for swine fever, swine erysipelas, and swine pneumonia should be injected in time.

Scientific feeding of adult pigs

Mini pigs are lively and active, but timid and easily frightened, so a quiet, dry, and clean feeding environment should be maintained. In terms of feed, mini pigs are relatively tolerant of roughage, so they should be fed mainly with roughage such as barley, rice bran, and wheat bran. However, weaned piglets should be fed compound feed. Its feed formula is: corn 10%, rice grain 50%, soybean cake 8%-10%, wheat bran 30%, flour 1%, salt 0.5%. Each kilogram of feed should contain 10.5 megajoules of digestible energy and 16.2% crude protein. In order to improve feed returns and reach the standard for commercial pigs as soon as possible, scientific feeding should be implemented. First, it must be timed: 4 meals per day, starting at 7 a.m., with 1 feeding every 4 hours. Second, it must be rationed: for pigs weighing more than 20 kg, feed at 4.5% of their body weight; for pigs within 20 kg, feed at 3.5% of their body weight. Achieve open feeding first and restriction later, that is, before 2 months of age let them move more to promote frame growth; after 2 months of age, restrict their activity to promote fattening, so as to ensure a relatively high lean meat rate.

Pay attention to epidemic prevention and disease treatment

First, prevent disease before it occurs: flush manure once a day, set up a shade awning in summer for sun protection, cover a warm shed in winter for insulation, frequently scrub the feeding trough, and regularly disinfect the pigpen; second, treat disease early, especially pay attention to preventing and treating piglet paratyphoid.

Market at the right time

After piglets are raised to 5 weeks of age, they can be marketed as raw material for roast suckling pig, and at this time they should be marketed in time. If selling breeding pigs, then market them according to the prescribed time.
