28-year-old cattle and sheep farmer interviewed by the program
Program interview with a 28-year-old cattle and sheep farmer (the boss)
(Agricultural Wealth Network) In 2008, the wealth program conducted on-site visits to more than 50 cattle and sheep farming enterprises in Shandong, including Heze, Yuncheng, Jiaxiang, Jining, Liangshan, and other places, and learned that there are not many real Shandong men (down-to-earth people). In the end, through a recommendation from a southern client who had long bought cattle and sheep from Shandong, we got to know Wu Qi, sales manager of Qitian Animal Husbandry. Wu Qi is not old, 28 years old, but after seeing him and chatting with him for a while, I found that unlike other farm managers who always praise their own cattle and sheep, Wu Qi is more straightforward. If something is good, he says it is good; if it is not good, he says it is not good. He is direct and easier to deal with. The reporter said: Boss Wu, business is still good lately, right? Wu Qi: Hello, just call me Wu Qi. It is still okay lately, not as many customers as in August-October. The weather is relatively hot now, and they are all old customers coming to buy cattle and sheep seedlings. Reporter: I have seen many farms online and in newspapers. Why does our Qitian Animal Husbandry not do some promotion? Wu Qi: Cattle and sheep seedlings are bought by customer friends to raise. If you only do promotion and place advertisements, but you do not have good seedlings, when customers come you give them poor-quality ones to brush them off. Although you make money, I feel that is unfair to my conscience, and the business will not last long. Only good cattle and sheep breeds at a reasonable price, so that customers can buy them and raise them successfully, then customers will invisibly do the best promotion for you. Reporter: I see you have many long-term customer friends, big and small. How can you keep customers coming to you long term, while other farm owners rarely have long-term customers? Wu Qi: Hehe, that cannot be, right? We are all pretty good here. What I feel makes me different from others is that, for example, if I give a customer cattle worth 1800 yuan of good quality, while someone else gives him poor-quality, weak cattle for 1790 yuan, the customer will go to them, and I will not stop the customer. In fact, my farm also has poor-quality cattle that are even cheaper than 1700, but as long as cattle and sheep seedlings leave our Qitian Animal Husbandry, I must guarantee that not one is of poor quality. The poor-quality ones we all give to slaughterhouses. If we just focus on money, make a price difference, and give customers poor quality, then we would rather not do that kind of business than cheat customers. Good is good, and poor quality also exists. I have to make it clear to customers. There is no need at all for you to believe what they say about both good quality and cheap price. For cattle and sheep of the same quality, I will press the price to the lowest. No one is unwilling to do business, and no one is willing to push customers to other farms for the sake of a few dozen yuan. If customers really believe their so-called good quality and low price, even much cheaper than a large cattle at slaughter, then I cannot do anything about it. I also hope everyone does business with mutual understanding. Reporter: We learned that the cattle and sheep raised by many customers are very good, while some are very poor. Why is that? Wu Qi: The premise of this reason is what I said in my previous sentence. If you only try to save a few dozen yuan and buy poor quality, do you not think that when you buy cattle, they only say how good the cattle are and how low the price is? Are they stupid? You bought poor-quality cattle and sheep, and you still think the cattle and sheep are very good and the price is cheap, but when you really start raising them, you discover they grow slowly and have problems, and then it is too late. In fact, buying seedlings is like building a house. If the foundation is not solid, and you still want to build a tall building, can people live in it? Some experienced old hands in farming all understand this, especially when buying calves and lambs. What they pay attention to is not price, but quality. Only when you buy good quality will the benefits of raising them later be good, and they will also be less likely to get sick. In fact, the prices are all about the same, and will not differ by 20 yuan up or down. I just hope that our farming friends everywhere, when buying cattle and sheep, do not believe too much in other people's low prices, high quality, and whatever other discounts. In fact, no one is stupid. The key is whether the seedlings you buy can be raised successfully, whether the farm owner you find is suitable to be friends with you, and finding truly good people and buying high-quality seedlings is the key to success. Any customer who comes to buy seedlings wants to raise them well. As long as your price is fair and the quality is good, and the customer can raise them successfully, the customer will believe you, thank you, and come to you again next time. If the seedlings you give customers are of very poor quality, and after returning they keep getting sick, and in the end even lose money, then can you have long-term customers? Reporter: Okay, thank you.
