The modern sheep industry is a knowledge-intensive and technology-intensive industry. To raise sheep well and develop the sheep industry requires not only capital investment, but also a great deal of investment in science and technology. There are four sources from which farming households can increase their investment in science and technology for sheep raising.

First, earnestly accept technical guidance from local professional departments and fully implement the comprehensive sheep-raising measures promoted and popularized by those departments. Second, farming households that have joined an industry chain should raise sheep strictly in accordance with the technical measures and requirements put forward by the leading enterprise or group.

Third, hire sheep-raising experts from research institutes, universities and competent professional departments as technical consultants and for on-site guidance.

In particular, large-scale specialized sheep farms should hire experts as technical advisers to teach and apply high and new technologies. Fourth, farming households should teach themselves, attend training courses or pursue further study at colleges and universities to study hard and master scientific and technological knowledge.

Comprehensive prevention and control of goat parasitic diseases

I. Regular deworming.

Preventive deworming: according to the living characteristics of the parasites, deworming is generally carried out once each year in April-May and October-November. After deworming, take care to collect the sheep manure and pile it up centrally for fermentation treatment, so as to prevent the spread of pathogens and cause repeated infection.

Therapeutic deworming: based on examination of goat feces or the results of necropsy of dead sheep, treat with deworming drugs according to the severity of infection. One week after drug deworming, it is advisable to deworm again to expel the larvae in the goat's body. Commonly used deworming drugs include tetramisole, albendazole, trichlorfon, ivermectin, and others.

II. Strengthen management.
In winter and spring, the harm from parasites is especially serious, so feed more nutritious forage. The pen should be built in a ventilated, sunny place,
keep the sheep shed dry, the forage clean and the drinking water clean, keep feeding and management utensils clean, and disinfect the sheep shed and exercise yard regularly.

III. Carefully raise lambs well.

Parasitic diseases harm lambs the most, so efforts should be concentrated on strengthening the management of lambs:
First, deworm ewes in late pregnancy to prevent infection of lambs after birth;
Second, carry out preventive deworming of lambs before weaning and of ewes;
Third, raise lambs and adult sheep separately to reduce opportunities for the spread of parasites.

IV. Implement rotational grazing.

After parasite eggs are excreted from the body, it takes about 1 week for them to develop into infective larvae in the outside environment,

so grazing in one place should not exceed 7 days. In addition, invasive parasitic larvae generally do not survive outside for more than 3 months, so new forage grass should be sown in intercropped land and pastureland should be renewed. Do not graze the flock in the early morning or evening after rain, and do not graze in low-lying areas.
