Effects of phosphorus deficiency on rapeseed
(Agricultural Wealth Network) It is mainly shown in a decrease in the phosphorus content in the plant body, and the nitrogen-to-phosphorus ratio changes accordingly, from 3 to 5 to 1 in normal plants to 10 to 12 to 1. Phosphorus deficiency also causes poor root development, smaller leaves, and thicker mesophyll. The leaf color is dark green or grayish green, lacking luster. The petioles are purple, and the leaf vein edges show purplish-red spots or patches. The number of leaves is 2 to 3 fewer than in normal plants, bolting is slow, and the bolting stems turn red. In severe phosphorus deficiency, the leaves become dark purple and gradually wither, so that the plant cannot bolt or flower. With moderate phosphorus deficiency, branches and siliques decrease, the seeds are not plump, and the yield drops significantly.
