Which pesticide is effective for controlling the peach fruit borer
(Agricultural Wealth Network)    The peach fruit borer, also known as the peach fruit moth, belongs to the family Carposinidae of the order Lepidoptera and is a major pest damaging fruit. It is distributed throughout the fruit-producing regions of northern China, and its host plants include apple, pear, hawthorn, peach, plum, apricot, jujube and others, with apple, pear, jujube and hawthorn suffering the most severe damage. The larvae bore into and feed on the fruit, reducing apple quality and yield. In recent years, we conducted pesticide control trials against the peach fruit borer in non-bagged apple orchards. The trial consisted of three treatments: 1% emamectin benzoate emulsifiable concentrate, 2.5% deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrate, and 2.5% beta-cypermethrin aqueous emulsion. The results showed that 2.5% beta-cypermethrin aqueous emulsion had good rapid efficacy against the peach fruit borer, with a control effect reaching 65.05% on the fifth day after application, but it had a certain killing effect on natural enemies. Although 1% emamectin benzoate emulsifiable concentrate had somewhat poorer rapid efficacy, it had a long residual effect, with a control effect as high as 73.3% on the 10th day after application, and it did not harm natural enemies, making it a suitable pesticide to promote for the production of pollution-free apples.
