Integrated pest and disease control methods for the three growth stages of Chinese cabbage
Integrated control of pests and diseases in the "three stages" of Chinese cabbage
(Agricultural Wealth Network) During the cultivation of Chinese cabbage, pests and diseases occur frequently in its seedling stage, rosette stage and head-forming stage. The main diseases are anthracnose, downy mildew, bacterial angular leaf spot, soft rot and spot disease; the main pests are aphids, flea beetles and cabbage caterpillars. Integrated control methods should be adopted, with the focus on prevention, strengthening fertilizer and water management, cultivating robust plants and improving plant resistance; drainage ditches should be opened around the field to lower the groundwater level so as to avoid inducing various diseases; timely cultivation and weeding should be carried out, and diseased plants should be pulled up and destroyed. On this basis, different control measures are adopted at different stages.
Seedling stage: For aphids, spray 50% pirimicarb wettable powder at 2000-2500 times dilution or 20% Yakexing at 1000 times dilution for control, which also controls other pests; in fields where cabbage anthracnose occurs severely, promptly spray 50% carbendazim-thiram wettable powder at 500 times dilution; for cabbage viral disease, spray 20% Virus A wettable powder at 500 times dilution.
Rosette stage: Mid to late September is often the first peak period for downy mildew, so cultivation and weeding should be strengthened, water should be controlled, and seedlings should be properly hardened off to improve plant resistance. For downy mildew, spray 40% fosetyl-aluminium wettable powder at 400 times dilution, or 64% Sandofan wettable powder at 600 times dilution, or 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder at 600 times dilution; for black spot disease, spray 50% iprodione wettable powder at 1000 times dilution, which also controls bacterial angular leaf spot and black rot.
Head-forming stage: After Chinese cabbage enters the head-forming stage, fertilizer and water management should be strengthened, drainage and irrigation should be carried out promptly to ensure sufficient soil moisture and prevent the soil surface from cracking, so as not to damage the roots. After rain, promptly drain the field water to avoid inducing various diseases. Timely topdressing should be applied, with 8-10 kg of compound fertilizer per mu, to promote the growth of Chinese cabbage and improve its resistance. Topdressing should be stopped in the later stage to prevent excessive vegetative growth of Chinese cabbage. According to the main types of pests and diseases, refer to the corresponding control methods to select pesticides, and seize the favorable opportunity before the Chinese cabbage rows close to carry out control. Pesticide application should be stopped half a month before harvest.
