Method for determining watermelon ripeness based on the number of days since female flower blooming
(Agricultural Wealth Network) For the same variety of watermelon under the same temperature conditions, the number of days from female flower blooming to fruit maturity is basically fixed. During the flowering and fruit-setting period, marker sticks of different colors are inserted in the melon field every 3 days to indicate the blooming date, then the development days of each batch of fruit (same color marker sticks) are calculated, and the harvest time is then decided. This is a relatively scientific and reliable method for determining maturity, and it is also simple and easy to carry out. Generally, early-maturing varieties need 28 to 30 days from female flower blooming to maturity, mid-maturing varieties need 31 to 35 days, and late-maturing varieties need more than 35 days.
