Seedling planting methods for watermelon cultivation with plastic film mulching

How to plant seedlings in watermelon cultivation with plastic film mulching

There are two methods for transplanting watermelon seedlings with plastic film mulching: one is to plant the seedlings first and then cover with film; after the seedlings are planted, cover with the film, tear an opening in the film above the watermelon seedling, pull the seedling out through it, and press the film down around the seedling with moist soil. The other is to cover with film first and then plant the seedlings, using a soil extractor to punch planting holes in the film at the spacing between plants and plant the seedlings (note that the soil extractor should be somewhat larger and deeper than the nutritional pot, to avoid the nutritional pot being left suspended on air when planting). The advantage of covering with film first is that mulching is faster, the ground temperature rises earlier and better, and the weed-killing effect is also good; moreover, separating the seedling planting operation allows the planting efficiency to be improved.
