What are the morphological characteristics of the Jinsi (Golden Silk) jujube varieties?
The fruit of Jinsi No. 4 is nearly oblong. The average fruit weighs 10 to 12 grams, with high uniformity, a smooth, bright and vivid surface. The skin is thin and fine, rich in toughness, light brownish-red; the flesh is white, dense, crisp and tender, with relatively abundant juice, an extremely sweet taste with a slight tartness, and no bitter, pungent or grassy off-flavors, giving an excellent mouthfeel. The soluble solids content is 40 to 50%, higher than all current varieties, with top-grade quality. It is suitable for fresh eating and drying. The drying rate is 55%; the dried jujube is light brownish-red, with thick, elastic flesh and a small pit. It ripens at the end of September, has moderate growth vigor, good early fruiting, strong fruit-setting ability, wide adaptability, disease resistance, and rarely cracks in rain.
