Morphological Characteristics of the Teapot Jujube

The teapot jujube bears fruit of a peculiar shape, colorful and attractive, with extremely high ornamental value. The fruits are very uneven in size, generally weighing 4.5 to 8.1 grams, with the largest reaching 10.2 grams. The middle and upper part of the fruit often grows 1 to 2 pairs of short columnar fleshy protrusions, rising 5 to 7 mm above the fruit surface and 4 to 7 mm thick, resembling a teapot spout and handle. The fruit surface is smooth with thin skin, and a vivid purplish-red color. The flesh is greenish-white, coarse and loose in texture with a slight mealiness, moderately juicy, sweet with a slight tartness, and a soluble solids content of 24 to 25%, giving it medium fresh-eating quality. The tree is medium in vigor with medium branching ability and good early fruiting, stable yield and strong productivity, strong adaptability, and tolerance of rough management. It does not crack at maturity and is not suitable for drying.
