Detailed Explanation of the Timing and Methods of Watering Jujube Trees
Although the jujube tree is a relatively drought-tolerant fruit tree, there are 3 periods when it needs sufficient water. (1) Bud break stage: jujube trees bud late and grow quickly, so they need more water; when drought occurs, 1 thorough watering should be given; (2) Flowering stage: when the weather is especially dry, water once, otherwise it will lower the concentration of protoplasm in the floral organs and affect the fruit-setting rate. When the air is dry during the flowering period, clear water can be sprayed onto the trees; if combined with a foliar spray containing a 1 ppm boron solution, the fruit-setting rate can be increased; (3) Rapid young fruit growth stage: this period is the peak time for water and fertilizer needs, so sufficient water should be applied together with fertilizer to ensure normal growth of the young fruit and reduce fruit drop.
