What Does "Yazao" Mean? A Detailed Explanation of the Meaning of Yazao
The Meaning of Yazao
Yazao means cutting or severing the phloem sieve tubes by hacking during the flowering period, temporarily blocking the transport of organic nutrients produced by the leaves to the root system, so as to raise the nutrient level of branches, leaves, flowers and fruit and achieve the goal of improving fruit set. The yazao method is to use a long, narrow sharp axe to chop horizontally at the trunk during the flowering period, with the requirement that the cuts be uniform in depth and reach the xylem. Bearing young trees are chopped once a year, while trees in full fruit period are chopped 3 to 6 times each year, three rings each time, with the axe marks in a plum-blossom pattern and each ring spaced 2 to 3 cm apart.
