Application Techniques of Bleaching Powder in Fish Disease Prevention and Treatment
Bleaching powder plays an important role in fish disease prevention and treatment, with characteristics such as low cost, ease of use and good results. The main component of bleaching powder, calcium hypochlorite, can form hypochlorous acid with strong bactericidal ability in water, so bleaching powder has good efficacy against bacterial fish diseases. Applying 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter by broadcasting over the entire pond can effectively prevent the occurrence of bacterial fish diseases.

1. White skin disease, also known as white tail disease When the disease occurs, the tail end turns white and gradually extends forward. Treatment method: apply 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water (containing 30% effective nitrogen, the same below) by broadcasting over the entire pond.

2. White head and white mouth disease The skin from the tip of the snout to the eyeball of the diseased fish loses pigmentation or becomes milky white. Treatment method: use the above method once a day, applying the medication for two consecutive days.

3. Red skin disease The fish body bleeds and becomes inflamed, and the fins fall off. ① Prevention method: when stocking fingerlings, soak them in 5-10 grams of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water for about half an hour. ② Treatment method: administer antibiotics orally, and externally apply 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water by broadcasting over the entire pond.

4. Furuncle disease The skin and muscle tissue on the back of the fish become inflamed, pustules appear, and there is a feeling of swelling. Prevention and treatment method: the same as for red skin disease.

5. Putrid skin disease Also called stamp disease: round red spots first appear on the affected area of the rear trunk, and then the epidermis rots. Treatment method: apply 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water by broadcasting over the entire pond.

6. Scale-standing disease The scales of the diseased fish open outward and stand up like a pine cone, hence it is also called pine cone disease. ① Prevention method: the brood carp spawning pond should be drained and cleaned in winter, and disinfected with bleaching powder. ② Treatment method: place 5 grams of copper sulfate, 2 grams of ferrous sulfate and 10 grams of bleaching powder in 1 cubic meter of water and soak the diseased fish for about 10 minutes.

7. Gill rot disease Also called "black head plague": diseased fish often swim alone away from the group, move slowly, and the body color becomes black, especially the head which turns black. Treatment method: in the early stage of the disease, hanging baskets of bleaching powder around the feeding area can be used for prevention and treatment; when the disease is severe, apply 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water by broadcasting over the entire pond.

8. Enteritis disease Also called rotten intestine plague: the abdomen of the diseased fish becomes distended, red spots appear, and the anus becomes red and swollen and protrudes like a crater. Treatment method: sulfonamides can be used orally, and for external use generally apply 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water by broadcasting over the entire pond.

9. Red fin disease The anal fin and pectoral fin bleed, the anus becomes red and swollen, and the intestinal tract becomes congested. Prevention method: drain the pond once a year for thorough disinfection. Use 20 kg of bleaching powder per 100 sq m. Drain the water after 1-2 days, then expose to sunlight for one week.
