Symptoms and Control Methods of Chilodonelliasis in Fish
Chilodonelliasis in Fish
Main pathogen: Chilodonella.
Affected species: fry and fingerlings of freshwater fish.
Suitable prevention and control period: winter and spring, March to May, water temperature 8-18°C.
Identifying features: large amounts of mucus on the body surface and gills of diseased fish, with gill tissue destroyed. Microscopic examination can confirm the diagnosis.
Prevention and control methods: (1) Dissolve 0.7 g of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate mixture (5:2) per cubic meter of water and splash it over the whole pond. (2) Add 20-30 ml of formalin solution per cubic meter of water and splash it over the whole pond. (3) Soak the diseased fish in a 20 mg/L potassium permanganate solution; soak for 20-30 minutes at a water temperature of 10-20°C, for 15-20 minutes at a water temperature of 20-25°C, and for 10-15 minutes at a water temperature above 25°C. (4) Soak the diseased fish in a 1% salt solution or a 1:50,000 concentration chloroquine solution for 18 hours. (5) Boil 20-25 kg of chinaberry branches and leaves in water for every 500 sq m of water surface at 1 m depth and splash it over the whole pond.
