Ichthyophthirius in Fish
    Main pathogen: Ichthyophthirius multifiliis.

Affected species: Grass carp, common carp, tilapia, etc.

Suitable prevention period: March to May, August to October.

Identification features: This disease is also called white spot disease. When a large number of the parasites are present, white dot-like cysts can be seen with the naked eye covering the body surface, fin rays and gills of the diseased fish. In severe infections, the tissue at the lesion site proliferates and secretes large amounts of mucus, forming a layer of white basal membrane covering the surface of the lesion.

Prevention and treatment methods: (1) For every cubic meter of water, dissolve 3 to 5 grams of lime-sulfur mixture and 0.3 grams of trichlorfon in water and splash over the entire pond for 5 consecutive days. (2) Soak the diseased fish in a 2 mg/L methylene blue solution for 2 hours. (3) Mix glacial acetic acid with hydrogen peroxide at a ratio of 1:3, dilute to 5000 to 10000 times, and soak the diseased fish for 30 to 60 minutes. (4) For every 500 sq m of water surface with a depth of 1 m, use 150 grams of dried chili peppers and 50 grams of dried ginger, add water and boil into 25 kg of liquid, and splash over the entire pond; once a day for two consecutive days.
