Symptoms and Control Methods of Fish Trichodiniasis
Fish Trichodiniasis
Main pathogen: Trichodina.
Affected species: Various marine and freshwater fish.
Suitable period for control: Occurs year-round, most common from May to August.
Identifying features: The fish body tissues secrete large amounts of mucus, gill tissue rots, and diseased fish turn dark in body color.
Control methods: (1) Dissolve 0.7 g of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate (5:2) mixture in water per cubic meter of water and splash it over the entire pond. (2) Diseased fish can be soaked in a 2% salt solution for more than 15 minutes, or soaked in an 8 mg/L copper sulfate solution for 20 minutes, once every 2 days. (3) For every 500 sq m of water surface (water depth 1 m), boil 15-25 kg of neem tree branches and leaves into a liquid and splash it over the pond, or soak neem tree branches and leaves in the pond and replace them every 7-10 days. (4) For every 500 sq m of water surface (water depth 1 m), mash 2.5-3.5 kg of fresh Chinese chives, mix with 65 g of salt, and scatter it into the pond.
