Prevention and control techniques for fish dactylogyrus disease
    Main pathogen: Dactylogyrus.

Affected species: grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp, largemouth bass, mandarin fish, tilapia, etc.

Optimal control period: late spring and early autumn.

Identifying features: Dactylogyrus parasitizes the body surface and gill filaments of fish, damaging the gill filaments and body surface epithelial cells, stimulating the fish to secrete large amounts of mucus, with swollen gill lamellae appearing grayish-white. At the summer fry stage, the diseased fish have open opercula and a darkened body.

Control methods: (1) Dissolve 0.2-0.4 g of 90% crystalline trichlorfon per cubic meter of water and splash it over the entire pond. (2) Dissolve 1-2 g of 2.5% trichlorfon powder per cubic meter of water and splash it over the entire pond. (3) Dissolve 0.1-0.2 g of a mixture of 90% crystalline trichlorfon and sodium carbonate (ratio 1:0.6) per cubic meter of water and splash it over the entire pond. (4) Soak the diseased fish in a 20 mg/L potassium permanganate solution; soak for 20-30 minutes at a water temperature of 10-20°C; soak for 15 minutes at a water temperature of 20-25°C; soak for 10-15 minutes at a water temperature above 25°C. (5) Soak the diseased fish in a 20 mg/L quinine hydrochloride solution.
