How to Introduce Solid Food and Supplementary Feed at the Right Time During the Eye-Opening Period of Baby Rabbits
Timely Introduction of Solid Food and Supplementary Feed During the Eye-Opening Period of Baby Rabbits
From 12 to 13 days after birth, when their eyes begin to open, until weaning, this period is called the eye-opening period.
After baby rabbits open their eyes, they grow and develop very quickly, while the mother's milk has already begun to decrease. Relying on mother's milk alone can no longer meet the growth and development needs of the baby rabbits, so solid food and supplementary feed must be introduced at the right time. The best time to start is at 16 to 18 days of age. When starting supplementary feeding, first feed a small amount of easily digestible and nutrient-rich feed, such as cooked soy milk, milk, steamed corn bread, or rice soup mixed with a mixed feed. After a few days (at 20 to 25 days of age), the mixed feed can be placed in a shallow dish for regular, measured supplementary feeding each day.
