Summer is now in full swing, and it's the hardest time of year for the flowers and plants at home. One careless move can leave your plants lifeless. To get the plants at home safely through summer, I've racked my brains, so here are several ways to get through summer safely, and you don't have to spend a single cent - just use waste from daily life.

Mosquito coil ash

In summer many plants come under attack from pests, so we can collect the ash from mosquito coils and then sprinkle it evenly on the soil, but don't sprinkle too much, especially for acid-loving plants, which must be treated with caution, because mosquito coil ash is alkaline, and using too much will burn the plant roots; this way it will kill the insect eggs in the soil. Besides that, it can supplement nutrients for the plants and make them bloom more.

Sand

In summer plants often attract small black flies, so you can use sand to get rid of them. You can get a little from a construction site, then rinse it with clean water, pick out the large grains of sand, then disinfect the sand with carbendazim, leave it in the sun to dry, and sprinkle it directly on top of the potting soil. This way you can prevent the small black flies from laying eggs in the soil, and besides that it also achieves the effect of letting water and air through.

Moss

For those growing orchids at home, summer is a real worry - you can only run a fan for them every day to cool them down. In fact, besides that, you can spread a layer of moss on top of the potting soil. After it rains there is plenty of moss in the residential compound, so just go out and dig a little. Then chop it up and spread it on, and spray it with water every day. When it grows green, that counts as having taken root, and this way you can achieve the effect of retaining moisture, holding water and cooling things down.
