Causes of coccidiosis in domestic rabbits
Routes by which domestic rabbits contract coccidiosis: the feces of infected rabbits contaminate feed and drinking water; flies, cockroaches, rats, as well as people's hands and feet, and all equipment used for feeding rabbits, become contaminated with coccidian oocysts; after a rabbit recovers from coccidiosis, infected adult rabbits become long-term carriers and constantly shed coccidian oocysts in their feces; poor feeding and management conditions, such as poor cleaning and sanitation, crowded and damp rabbit housing, and insufficient vitamins in the feed, can all give rise to coccidiosis, which then spreads rapidly to the entire farm; warm, humid seasons favor the survival and spread of coccidia.
