How to prevent rabbit pasteurellosis? A detailed guide to practical methods
Prevention of rabbit pasteurellosis
First, maintain good hygiene and disease prevention in normal times to strengthen the rabbits' disease resistance and prevent colds. Second, rabbits purchased from outside must be kept in isolation for 15 days and can only be mixed into the group once they are free of disease. Third, other animals must be strictly kept out of the rabbitry to reduce and eliminate transmission. Fourth, check the rabbit herd frequently; once a sick rabbit is found, isolate and treat it immediately, and resolutely cull chronic sick rabbits showing symptoms of rhinitis. Dead rabbits must be buried deep, and the rabbit house, rabbit cages and equipment must be strictly disinfected. Fifth, in affected rabbitries, inject weaned rabbits with rabbit pasteurellosis vaccine every year in March and September; a combined vaccine against rabbit pasteurellosis and rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease can also be used, simultaneously preventing these two infectious diseases, rabbit pasteurellosis and rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease.
