Management key points for intensive fattening of feeder cattle with high-concentrate diets
Scheduled feeding: feed once each day at 6 am and 6 pm, with an extra feeding of roughage at 10 pm. During winter fattening, appropriately increase energy by raising the proportion of cornmeal in the daily ration (5%). Scheduled watering: where conditions permit, use warm water to water the cattle, feed first and then water; if the temperature of deep-well water reaches 10°C, it can be drawn and drunk immediately. Tethered housing: let the cattle move less; in winter provide windbreaks and keep them warm, minimize humidity as much as possible, keep the cattle bed dry and allow plenty of sunlight, and brush the cattle's bodies regularly. Cattle in different fattening stages should be fed in separate troughs to prevent bloat and diarrhea, ensure adequate drinking water, keep things quiet, maintain good cleanliness and hygiene, and prevent disturbance from mosquitoes and flies.
